States Made is a full-service merchandise partner for activism organizations, political campaigns and socially conscious businesses. We believe in the power of a well-designed t-shirt to raise vital funds and increase awareness of important issues. We create legitimate e-commerce businesses for each of our partners, using best practices for merchandising, marketing, UX and design.

We make merch that is USA-made and union printed, so we’re creating good jobs and ethical merch. Our clients are movement-creators, activists and game-changing progressive politicians.

Who We’re Seeking

We’re hiring a General Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operations of States Made. This role will work cross-functionally to ensure we’re delivering for our clients and our bottom line. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about organizational systems and progressive politics.

This role will require being entrepreneurial and learning on your feet. Every day will be different, so a comfort with ambiguity and fast-paced environments is a must.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, refine and maintain our systems-- from inventory management, to AP/AR, to customer service and client services.

  • Spearhead strategic initiatives to improve processes and efficiency in the organization, especially in regard to operations. 

  • Serve as our controller, managing daily accounting activities, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll and overseeing our relationship with our outsourced bookkeeper and accounting firm. 

  • Manage and grow a cross-functional team of internal employees and external support staff. Help our team solve problems and empower them to grow in their roles.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 8-10 years of related work experience in e-commerce, promotional products, operations and/or political campaigns

  • 1-2 years of P&L responsibility with a solid understanding of finance and accounting practices 

  • Extremely entrepreneurial -- you’re a builder who has been integral in growing an organization (or campaign) from the ground up

  • Experience managing and building a cross-functional team. You love helping your team grow and are able to create a work environment that’s supportive and fun while delivering results for our clients

  • Very strong organizational skills. Nothing makes you happier than building an efficient system 

  • Experience working and multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Start up, small business or campaign experience is preferred

  • Master problem solver. You constantly think five steps ahead, anticipating and solving needs before they occur

  • Ability and willingness to operate on a strategic and tactical level, taking on executional day-to-day tasks when needed to drive the business

  • High commitment to excellence. You make sure things are done correctly and any mistakes are fixed swiftly. You care deeply about our clients and it shows in your work

  • Detail oriented with strong follow through - able to organize and prioritize multiple projects

Details and Benefits

  • This is a full time role with a salary range of $110-$130K plus bonus based on experience 

  • Unlimited PTO with a 10 day office closure in December and paid holidays

  • States Made is based in Los Angeles. Candidates in Los Angeles are preferred but we’re open to fully remote for the right candidate.

  • Healthcare premiums covered at 75% for employees and 25% for dependents
